East Village is downtown’s largest neighborhood, as it has experienced the greatest residential growth in over the past several years. Scattered throughout the area are artists’ homes, studios, galleries and shops. San Diego City College, the New School of Architecture and two high schools are in the area. A dramatic facelift is underway for 12th Avenue, linking San Diego Bay to Balboa Park. East Village is home to the San Diego Padres Ballpark and new San Diego Main Library.
